Briana Zacharias-Hernandez

Briana Zacharias-Hernandez grew up in East Los Angeles, CA and earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Systems and Ecology, Behavior and Evolution from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). She is currently a first year PhD student in Biological Oceanography at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD. Her current research interests are focused around the socio-ecological dimensions of mangrove restoration initiatives, the avenues for development of a shared understanding across stakeholders and indigenous communities and the reconnection of freshwater and estuarine habitats. Her hobbies include growing a self-sustaining food forest ecosystem and teaching permaculture methods to children from her community.
